2 Month Update

Isaac had his 2 month check up last Wednesday and everything is looking good!  He wasn't terribly happy about Grandpa poking and prodding him, but he wasn't screaming so that was good.  He did scream when he got his shots, but after lots of Mommy/Isaac cuddle time and a couple long naps that afternoon he's back to his normal happy self.

Here's a little about Isaac at 2 months:

Height: 24 3/4" - 93%
Weight: 13 lbs. 4 oz - 73%
Head Circumference: 41.4 cm- 77%

This past month:
  • He's started smiling A LOT!  He loves to smile at us and will sometimes even smile for other people.
  • He's gotten a lot more control of his head.  When he's really tired it'll start wobbling a bit, but most of the time now he has complete control of it.
  • Isaac has pretty much discovered his hands.  He can get them to his mouth to chew on.  I've given up on stopping it.
  • He drools constantly!  We knew he was going to be a drooler, but I didn't think it was going to start this early.  At least we won't have problems with dry mouth.  Instead we're just going to have to accept that our baby is going to need to wear a bib with EVERYTHING... and that we are also going to be covered in drool.
  • He's fallen in love with the animals above his bouncer.  He will kick and coo and smile at those things for a good 20 minutes.  I can get a lot more done now without feeling guilty about leaving him in his bouncer.
  • He's completely in 3-6 month clothes right now!  They're a little lose on him, but it's better than the 0-3 that are skin tight.
  • We're also moving up to size 2 diapers for overnight and when we're out and about.  We still love our cloth diapers for when we're at home.
  • Just this week he's started pulling himself into a sitting position when we have him leaning against our knees.  He's really ready to sit like the big people sit.  By 3 months I wouldn't be surprised at all for him to be sitting on his own.

I'm constantly amazed by how much Isaac is learning to do.  He's so interested in everything around him!  We now have to be careful about how much the TV is on because he loves to stare at the TV if it is on.  I'm so excited to see how much he grows this next month!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This year, Andy and I spent Christmas in Salt Lake with his family.  I didn't want to haul a baby halfway across the United States and since this is the last year we'll be living in Utah (and probably one of the last times we'll spend Christmas in Utah) we decided to stick close to home.  It's a good thing we did!

In the last 3 weeks we had to get a new transmission put into our car, went to the dentist twice (once for cleanings and once for Andy and I to each get a cavity filled), and went to the optometrist.  In addition to my cousin Sean getting married, 3 family parties, and Christmas day.  Needless to say, it's been a busy couple of weeks.  Despite all of this, Andy and I are feeling incredibly blessed.  The transmission we got is actually a used one which was $1,000 cheaper than getting a brand new one put in.  Our dentist is the one Andy's been going to his whole life and he decided to take our insurance as full payment for both the cleanings and the cavities so that didn't cost us anything out of pocket.  We're feeling very blessed that we had been able to put as much into savings as we did before Isaac was born.  If we hadn't been trying to save every penny we would definitely be freaking out right now!

Even with all the craziness, we had an awesome Christmas!  My parents sent us a baby bath tub for Isaac, so bath time has been less awful the last week... aka... Isaac isn't screaming bloody murder when we try to give him a bath.  Instead he just looks vaguely worried.  We try to play with him a lot and get him to smile so he'll start to associate bath time with fun.  Andy's parents got us a Bumbo which I'm really excited about since hopefully this will help Isaac to be happier not being held and get him to start playing with things.  He's still a little young for it, but he sure looks cute sitting in it!  They also got us a spiffy new camera!  It takes HD quality video and has all sorts of nifty, parent friendly features (such as taking 10 shots per second so that one of them has a chance of looking okay).  I'm really excited about, especially it comes with a few lessons on how to take pictures!

New Years was... interesting.  I'm glad it'll be several years before we have a baby that young at a New Years Eve party again.  Isaac was less than thrilled about being kept up until midnight (I tried to put him to sleep, but he didn't like the idea of going to bed in a strange crib either) and being surrounded by lots of people.  We all survived though.

Here are some pictures of the little cutie... who happens to be 2 months old today!

Ready to go to the New Years Eve Party

You can tell that Isaac's had just about enough of this whole party thing.
